Born in Nice in ‘ 61, I lived during 13 years in Montreal, from 1977 to 1990. During that period of time I obtained my bachelor degree in music at the Concordia University of Montreal with jazz and arrangement specialization. I also took private arranging courses during 4 years with Frank Mella, professor in Berkley School of Music and improvisation classes with Art Roberts. Back in France in ‘ 90, I worked with various musicians on the french jazz scene. In ‘ 99, to improve my musical skill and to escape the top 40 definitively, I learned the sousaphone…
During the last 20 years, I have composed several repertories for different bands : septet, quartet and trio. All these repertories were altered and enriched many times with new songs and new arrangements. I set up all these formulas regularly on the two continents, for festivals or specific concerts.
After having completely changed my way of playing the guitar and my musical approach, – thanks to the tuba- I am now composing a new show which will include my love for brass instruments and my current concept of guitar playing and improvising. I am also working on a new CD in my home studio with all my instruments and my multitrack digital recorder and on a software of lessons of improvisation and rythmic studies based on my personal work.

| I spent most of my youth setting up different bands to perform my music. As a band leader I played 5 consecutive years at the Montréal Jazz Festival.
My first professional opportunity was to replace the guitar player of a band named Quartz, which was the winner of the Montreal Jazz Festival’s contest of 1980 (I’m not sure about the year). I participated in art happenings with the free jazz big band the O.F.M. directed by Robert Gelinas and painter Robert Deschênes, and recorded for Radio Canada a contemporary masterpiece, written by the modern composer Claude Vivier. I have backed different singers such as, Therez Moncalm, Laurie Nidjelsky, Barbra Rainey, and participated in a great number of jazz groups with famous Quebec players like, Steve Amirault, Pierre Lafrenaye, Normand (Porky) Devault, Kevin de Suza, Jocelyn Menard… besides playing with a great number of groups of all kinds. |
Back in France in 1990, I set up many original groups to perform my music. ( Aloes, Captain Fraise, Herve Senni Group… just to name a few). With those bands, I regulary played on the Jazz scene in the south of France. (the Jam, the Sax’aphone, the Millau Jazz Festival…)
For two consecutive years I worked at the IPM (drum’s master class) in Grenoble as a session guitar player to play along with French well known drummers like, Loïc Pontieux, Regis Ceccarelli, Claude Gastaldin… I composed and programmed jingles for several independant radio stations, and I’ve been playing in top 40 bands as a guitar player and in several local marching bands as a sousaphone player ever since.
